What is this FREE christmas session all about?

I'd like you to imagine that you are a child in a third world country. You've probably never heard of a Nintendo- let alone played one. You probably play with things you've found dumped somewhere. Crayons and story books are things that you long for but know your parents cannot afford. You may or may not have running water. You may get a pair of shoes once in a couple of years- if you get any at all. You may be among the lucky ones in your neighborhood to attend a school but lack school supplies. New clothes? McDonald's? Ice Cream? Those are luxuries! A Christmas gift... well, you celebrate Christmas by eating a special meal if your family can afford that- but presents are luxury items which your family cannot afford.

I don't have an active imagination. The above is what I grew up knowing in El Salvador. I remember receiving a pair of socks one year for Christmas. Other than that I don't remember much else but my dad making a Christmas tree out of plywood and stringing lights onto it. I remember eating some fabulous grapes as a treat one year as fruit was too expensive for my parents to afford on a daily basis.

I don't share this to receive pity... for by God's grace I was rescued from that life when I had the opportunity to move to the United States of America! I do share this with you to make you think. Make you want to touch a child who may have a similar story as the one I did. I was among the 'lucky' ones but even today their are many children suffering with cares that a child shouldn't have to carry.

I try not to ever forget where I came from. I commit to play a role in helping children whether through sponsoring a child through compassion international, giving to the local food bank or Operation Christmas Child.

Operation Christmas Child the world's largest Christmas project, brings joy and hope to needy children around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God's love. Since 1993, more than 69 million shoe box gifts have been delivered to children in more than 130 countries.

This year I am dreaming big. I want to motivate as many friends, colleagues and clients to join me in giving Christmas away this year. I hope that a free Christmas portrait would motivate you to join me! For details please check Beaver Community Church as I join them in this cause of raising support for Operation Christmas Child.

What a wonderful way to inspire people to come out and bring Shoeboxes! I am amazed by your story of how you grew up, but God is so good for bring you to the place you are now! It's great that you're giving back in the way God has gifted you!
