New Life

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph Rosy.  Sweet. Little. Petite. And yet already full of personality Rosy.  She didn't want to fall sleep.  She refused at every turn.  We made the best of it.  That is what we do in life. When things aren't as planned.  We aim to make the best of the circumstances and forge on.

I know this is a hard time for so many in our community right now.  It is hard to enjoy the goodness because we know one family's world has been turned upside down.  And with that family, a whole community grieves. It mourns.  It hurts. It asks. Why. Why again as we have seen so much loss.  Inmense pain and grief through this past year.

As Denise so well said,  "In many ways the Mizee family is the top stitching on this community’s quilt. They weave all over the pattern, binding us together and making the whole piece stable. There isn’t a person here who isn’t affected by their presence. When we heard of the accident each of us felt the fabric rip. The tear is wide and cannot be patched. All of us have stories to share; ours is a collective loss."

In the midst of this great loss we turn to God.  And each other.  For comfort. For strength.  For courage to go on and honor those who were loved so deeply.  We celebrate life while we mourn that which was lost. Little Rosy reminds us not only to celebrate new life but new hope. For there is hope. There is joy.  Among the pain, there is goodness and beauty

My prayers are with you Denise and the entire community that mourns.  May you feel the deep love of Jesus.  The strength of those that love you.  And the hope that is found in tomorrow.
