Portland Young Lives: Teen Mom Spring Photo Shoot

It started last year.  Actually if you ask Katie (of Katie Campbell Photography) it started two years ago last year that God placed a dream in her heart.  She faithfully laid it at his feet and was simply available.  Then Krina of South Portland Young Lives entered the picture and together they made magic happen. They sent out a call to stylists and photographers and together we poured love over nine teen moms and their beautiful babies.

I kept meaning to blog about last year's event but was unable to with so much going on in the fall months.  I wanted to make sure that didn't happen again so I find myself blogging in the wee hours of the night.  It's all worth it though.

The goal of the teen mom shoot that started as a small dream is simply to capture beautiful portraiture for young teen moms and their babies.  For some moms this is their first professional portraits.  For some it's their first family portrait.

Katie and Misty organized some amazing make-up artists to be involved this year once again.  They were so vital to making these girls feel loved and beautiful.  I specially want to thank Courtney Rogers for the wonderful job she did with Mackenzie and how much love she poured into her work.

It was a joy to be able to photograph Mackenzie and her sweet baby boy.  The love she has for baby Alandar sure shines through these images!

He was such a sweet boy.  Their home is in Eastern Oregon and so they had a long drive to get to the shoot.  He was a trooper being a calm sweetheart.  Only when he became really hungry did we have to pause the shoot and even then it was super enjoyable to get to love on a sweet little guy like him!

I wanted to give Mackenzie some stunning images all by herself.  I know how hard a mom's job is and how often times we sacrifice so much in order to put our kids' needs first.  I wanted this to be something just for her.  A time to share with her just how beautiful she is.  Mackenzie, I hope you know you are a treasure!

If you are interested to learn about last year's Teen Mom Photoshoot here is a wonderful video that Katie put together.  It explains the heart and the vision for what we did and continued to do this year.
